Tinklai Short Film Festival 2009

140 Short Films from 16 countries

The 11th edition of Tinklai international short film festival will present the audience 140 latest short films from 16 European countries. Some of them have just started their international tour, while others have gained numerous awards at world festivals.

This year at Tinklai festival, films from the countries with highly developed cinema industry – France, Germany, the United Kingdom or Sweden – will oppose production from a whole bunch of East European countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

Lithuanian audience will have a traditional opportunity to watch the films from our neighbouring countries Latvia and Estonia, often perceived as our competitors in cinema, while film programs from Norway, Finland and Ireland demonstrates the cinema pearls by both experienced directors and newcomers.

Another traditional quest of Tinklai festival is the Basque cinematheque with a collection of newest short films from the Basque country – an exceptional phenomenon of the Spanish cinema.

Moreover, a distinctive program of German films is coming from Interfilm – Berlin short film festival and Berlin‘s second largest cinema forum.

Tinklai is especially proud to welcome the audience to the colourful and picturesque Lithuanian film program.

Finally, Tinklai festival has cooperated with Lithuanian Association of People with Disabilities to prepare a special program „Disability is Not an Obstacle“ dedicated to the disability topic in cinema. This program comprises short films from Poland, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Ireland and the United Kingdom awarded with numerous international prizes.
